How Do I Heat Up the House? It's So Cold Inside It's Inhumane!?
I never feel any air coming out of the vents, except the occasional weak cool flow.
I know my parents can afford to turn up the heat. But I'm home most of the time, I'm sick, and freezing! I can't find the thermostat, and I don't think our house has the greatest insulation. I tried closing all of my blinds, I wear socks and slippers and long warm pants and sweaters/hoodies. When I lie in my bed, sometimes I'm so cold that I imagine I'm dying of hypothermia and I start acting out that scene in Titanic.(yes, I know, weird...)
On my bed, I have two down Comforters, a thick Korean blanket, a brown microfiber one from Costco, fleece sheets (and somehow they start all falling off)
It's so stinkin cold! I live in Oregon right now, and I know my parents aren't happy (except my mom thinks we have to live here near my grandparents, even though we hardly ever see them)
I can't even really have a fever because it's so cold. I was starting to. I'm losing sensation in my toes..I haven't asked my parents to turn up the heat in awhile. I have a fan in my room, but it doesn't help much. Supposedly it cools you off in the summer and keeps the air warm in winter...biggest lie in America!
Also, how do I convince them to move back to Southern California? Most of my relatives/friends live there anyways. I don't want to sound bratty, and I could live in worse places, but it rains, and rains all winter, and it's cold and dark. I've written too many depressing songs this winter. During the summer I think "it's not too bad, not as bad as I remembered last year..." and then summer ends. And I think I'm developing allergies. I've never missed 3 days of school because I was sick in all my years! I wonder how my parents would feel if they came home and found me dead because our house is the temperature of the arctic.
Sorry this is so long. Tying keeps me warm/preoccupied.
Please, try to give serious answers. Maybe if you're funny I will laugh hard enough to keep warm. But so far, no one has even made me smirk.
My mom thinks those heating blankets are dangerous. I could ask about a heater, but it's hard to get my parents to buy much of anything right now, especially with no stores/malls around.
First off, my parents have only ever taken me to the doctors for required shots, because our insurance makes us pay for the first few visits. And my mom is a nurse, but most of the time she ignores me/leaves me alone. Except she got frustrated with my today, and while I was sleeping this morning, she yelled at me and told me to clean my room.
My tonsils are always swollen, but no one ever really takes me seriously. My dad got his tonsils removed when he was little, and says that's why he's always sick, but all of his relatives are sick and both of his parents died young.
I love my grandparents. But even my grandpa told my dad to move to LA. I know my dad wants to consider it. My uncle who lives in Brea told my mom she could get a job there. And we moved from CA when I was 2, so I don't really remember it.

Tips In Using Calibrated Medical Instruments In Measuring Blood Pressure And Temperature
When going to the hospital or clinic for a physical, doctors will always start by asking a few questions and then use a stethoscope and a blood pressure monitor as part of the initial test.
The individual's blood pressure is important because it can predict any potential health risks. This is done by strapping a band on the arm of the patient and then pumping a few times so that the gauge will be able to give an accurate reading.
The figures that come out will enable the doctor to recommend what steps should be taken so that such risks can be avoided. Someone overweight for example should go on a diet and exercise to lose those excess pounds while those who are malnourished or fatigued should eat more and get some rest.
If there are no problems, the patient can be released until the next visit, which could be scheduled after another 6 months. The person doesn't have to wait until it is time once gain to go to the doctor to check on the blood pressure. This is because a battery powered machine can be purchased at the drug store for use at home.
When opening the box, it will be a good idea to read the instructions to be familiar with the instrument. The manual will tell what kind of batteries should be used, where this should be plugged and how this should be placed on the arm.
People know that on average, getting something like 120 over 80 means everything is normal. The machine should always start from zero and then move its way up. If it doesn't, something could be wrong which causes the differences in the readings.
Should this happen, the best thing to do is to stay calm and check on the machine. A lot of things may have caused this such as the strap was not fixed properly or there is something wrong with the battery. When this happens, the individual should readjust the strap or replace the batteries with new ones and get another reading.
But if the batteries are good, then something could be wrong with the machine. The owner should have someone look at the machine or call the customer service hotline usually written in the manual to learn how this can be calibrated. Are electronic ones better than the mercury models? The answer is no. More people prefer the battery operated ones because these are cheaper and are able to give the same results when calibrated and used properly.
Monitoring Temperature With Calibrated Thermometer
Traditionally, this instrument is made of glass with mercury inside and numbers on the sides. The parent will place this under the armpit, mouth or rectum for a few minutes to determine the kid's temperature.
This type of thermometer is calibrated using mercury to get the patient's temperature. Since these are no longer being used, other models have taken its place such as the digital, the ear or the disposable thermometer.
Digital and ear thermometers are calibrated to give an exact reading using infrared sensors. Batteries power these instruments so this has to be checked every time to get an accurate reading. Disposable thermometers are calibrated to do the same thing in the form of dots. The parent can apply this in the mouth or in the rectum. A change in color could mean the kid has a fever. This should be thrown away after getting a reading so a new one will have to be used a few hours later to see if there is any improvement.
Other industries also use calibration when getting readings in equipment. This will depend on the standards set by the governing body just like the ones used by the doctor. The use of any of the thermometer is not painful and may cause a little discomfort for the child. It is a good thing that a fever is not that serious and this can be remedied by wearing light clothing, blankets and drinking plenty of liquids.
However, if the child's temperature is around 39 or 40 degrees Celsius, it will be a good idea to call a doctor. This person will be able to say whether the kid will have to be confined in the hospital or it is safe to do everything at home. In most cases, the specialist will recommend either acetaminophen or ibuprofen to break the fever.
There are many causes of fever and this could be an allergic reaction to medication or an infection from an injury. Parents should stay calm and use a calibrated thermometer to get the temperature before deciding to self medicate or call the doctor.

How Do I Dye my Bed Sheets Like This?
How do i dye my bed sheets like this?

Wild and Wooly Waterbed Sheets
The days of the plain white sheet are over. Now I personally prefer the feel of a crisp, freshly washed white bed sheet. For those folks who want a little something more from their waterbed the proverbial white sheet may not be decorative enough. The good news is that waterbed sheets and bedding items such as quilts have really come a long way and are now available in many different styles, prints and colors.
Color choices have never been greater and can include color hues from the subtle to the loud and bright. The fabric can sometimes determine the color if you choose sheets woven from such materials as bamboo and hemp. Unlike traditional cotton, bamboo and hemp are more environmentally friendly.
In many parts of the world cotton growing can involve the use of chemical pesticides and herbicides. Bamboo and hemp can be grown without the use of these chemicals. Bamboo and hemp sheets are often blended with cotton fiber.
More and more consumers are opting to go with one hundred percent organic fabrics. When looking at waterbed sheets woven from organically grown materials, always ask for a certificate that guarantees the source of the fabric. Cotton, bamboo and hemp fabrics are all available from organically grown raw fibers.
Cotton and cotton blend waterbed sheets can be found in an incredibly wide variety of colors. In addition to color choices, prints and patterns can be found to fit almost any style of home and room decor. Gaining in popularity are bed linens that are with dyes that derived primarily from plant sources and other natural pigments.
Shopping online has provided consumers with a means of comparing prices and styles in a way not possible before widespread use of the internet. If you were lucky enough to live near a retail outlet that sold quality waterbed sheets, the selection may be somewhat limited. Online shopping is convenient and the choices available are greater than ever before.
Quality websites will include full color examples of their products. The descriptions that sellers use to depict color choices are almost as varied as the colors themselves. Colors like bubblegum pink, corn silk gold and blueberry are just some of the fun ways sellers are marketing colors.
A style of bedding that is gaining in popularity is nature prints. Imagine bringing the beauty and diversity of Mother Nature into your home and sleeping space. The incredible variety of flora and fauna found in nature can be seen on many popular websites.
Animals and plants are featured in various prints that can range from the funny to the sublime. Imagine climbing into bed with koala bears, sleeping with jungle cats, dreaming with penguins or waking to the sight of a mother panda and her cub.
Pet fanciers can find bedding that features their animal favorites. Poodle sheets are not just for children anymore as more and more adults succumb to novelty of waterbed sheets that show off their favorite cat or dog breed. Name a domesticated species of dog and it is probably available in a sheet pattern for your waterbed.
Also gaining in popularity are jungle prints that can feature all manner of jungle flora and fauna. Leopard spots, zebra stripes and many other animal prints can adorn your waterbed.
If you fancy landscapes or seascapes, you can find those too. From lighthouses and old barns to green forests and fields of wild flowers, the days of the plain old sheet have been long gone.
Playful colors and wacky prints can brighten any decor. So why let the kids have all the fun. Online shopping makes going a little bit wild easier then ever before. So before you settle for plain white, blue or green, express your wild side the next time you shop for waterbed sheets.

How can I tie dye a sheet?
I really nee dto get my friend tie dyed sheets for christmas. I don't want to spend a whole lot of money on them though. I thought they'd be like 20 bucks tops. I can't find them in any stores and online they are like 80 bucks. I don't need the whole bed set. Just a twin sheet set w/ a pillow case.
I figured it would be cheaper just to buy white ones and make them myself. So first of all, what kind of sheets should I get? Does the fabric matter? And secondly...what is the cheapest & easiest way to make spiral tie dyed sheets. I want them to look like these
http://i.ehow.com/images/GlobalPhoto/Articles/5191016/tiedyedbed-main_Full.jpg
i dont think the fabric will matter all that much. just something cotton based. as for the dye, you can get some pretty cheap at walmart or somep[lace for like 1.50 a box/color. I think its in the laundry detergent/bleach/cleaning section....
the instructions are real simple...im no expert on the pattern making, but basically you can just twist the sheet in sections and tie em off with rubber bands and dip it in the dye. The more creative you get with the rubber bands the more creative the tie dye haha. id recommend testing out a few methods on some white shirts/cloths or something...

Upholstery Cleaning Tips That Can Keep Your Microfiber Furniture Looking Great
Modern technology has developed the smallest fiber that is manmade and as a result microfiber furniture is born. The microfiber fabric on furniture is very popular because it has a rich and luxurious appearance. Because of its beauty it is a great alternative to some of the natural materials like suede and leather. Some manufacturers also call this fabric micro suede because it has a very similar appearance to suede. The advantage though is that it is more durable and easy to keep and at the same time it offers a beautiful appearance. Microfiber furniture is recommended highly for people with allergies because it does not leave any lint or dust in the fibers.
Suede furniture has a big disadvantage because it can become dirty quickly and at the same time it can develop permanent stains if it gets wet. Suede has a napped natural finish and because of its nature every mark will show. Customers will pay a higher premium for micro-suede furniture because of the increased comfort level compared to suede furniture. Micro-suede furniture is much easier to clean and is water resistant compared to suede furniture. Many salesmen will tell you that microfiber furniture is indestructible but it is possible to completely ruin the elegance and the looks if you do not take proper care of your microfiber furniture.
The best way to maintain the looks of your microfiber furniture is to vacuum regularly. You should vacuum your furniture every week to keep the surface free from lint, dust and pet hairs. You need to vacuum in the cracks of your furniture, under the cushions and in any other tight spots to keep the pile loose and fluffy. If the dirt and dust is allowed to collect on your furniture this will lead to a film forming on your microfiber furniture which will make the appearance dull and dingy. Your microfiber furniture will also start to show premature wear and tear.
Any furniture that is kept in direct sunlight will start to fade and with microfiber furniture this becomes more prominent because of its bright luster. Drawing the curtains periodically when the room is not being used will go a long way to protecting your microfiber furniture and keep its beauty. Also not eating food on your furniture will prevent unsightly stains from appearing. When you do get spots or spills on your microfiber furniture it is necessary to remove them as quickly as you can buy using a damp cloth and a little bit of dish detergent mixed with water.
One common problem that people run into when they are cleaning spots or spills are that when the fabric dries ugly rings appear where the fabric got wet. One easy solution to this problem is to use a blow drier on cool and dry the fabric rapidly. Following this procedure will prevent those ugly rings from forming.
Even if you vacuum your furniture regularly, remove any spots or spills immediately and develop the proper habits to protect your furniture it will still need to be washed on a regular basis. Washing your microfiber furniture every year will remove the washable dirt that clicks on your furniture as a result of cooking odors, grease and oils from your hands and air pollution from outside. Removing these will help to maintain the new appearance of your microfiber furniture.
It is always best to rely on professional upholstery cleaners because cleaning microfiber furniture can be tricky at times. Some cleaning equipment as attachments that can damage the microfiber if you don't use it properly. You should never use any cleaning or laundry products that have bleach because this can cause permanent discoloration. Whenever you are cleaning microfiber you should use as little moisture as possible to prevent any damage. If you do develop a proper routine of care you will notice that your furniture will keep its beauty and elegance.

My son loves fuzzy things?
Ok...since day 1 of bringing Nate home hes has LOVED anything fuzzy. Especially a big green microfiber blanket. He will FREAK if he doesn't CONSTANTLY have a fuzzy blanket over him. and he always pulls them up to his chin and rubs his hands and face on them XD But now that he has a lot more tummy time. [My bed has a giant fuzzy comforter] we lay him on my bed and I know he can lift his head and move around but he only will for a second then he'll plop his head down and lick my comforter! I'm afraid someday he'll suffocate cause even if you pull his head up he hold it down so he can lick it. Is my kid just weird? Is anyone else's kid like this?
No but my cat is..
That is quite wierd he just likes the feel of it which I'm sure you do too just not as much as he does, if you are scared why don't you just take it away from him in stages like get rid of that blanket and use something smaller and then just gradually get him to stop wanting it so bad, or it will become an obsession later on in life my brother still sucks his thumb.. at 18.x
