Some background. My daughter is 11, and has bad allergies, which she got allergy shots for over 5 years until recently. We are currently switching allergists. She also has food allergies which we have an Epi-Pen for.

About 2 weeks ago, she woke up with these bumps/bites on her legs, arm and wrist. She had about 7-9 bumps. They were VERY itchy, very pink and hard. I couldn't understand what it was from. The next night she sleeps in her room again and wakes up with 3 more bumps, one of which was on her thumb! So I decided I'd search her room for any insects (bedbugs, fleas, etc). I vacuumed her carpet, her mattress and washed all her sheets, pillow cases, comforter, etc., in hot water. I didn't find anything in her room that would explain where these bumps were coming from. I let her sleep with me that night and the next morning she woke up with 2 more bumps. I let her sleep with me for the next 4 days but she didn't wake up with anymore bumps.

I then decided I'd sleep in her bed to see if I wake up with any bumps. I did that 2 nights ago and woke up with nothing! So I figured she could go back to sleeping in her bed. She slept in her bed last night and this morning she wakes up with 3 more bumps!!! I haven't taken her to the doctor yet because I didn't think it was that serious. But now I'm not sure what it's from. If it were bedbugs or some other bug, wouldn't I have gotten bit when I slept in her room? Nobody else is getting these bumps/bites just my daughter. I don't know what it's from. It's frustrating not knowing why she's getting these things.

Now, the 7-9 bumps she originally had started turning into what looks like scars. They are not pink anymore, but more purplish/dark colored.

Any ideas???
She goes to private school, but obviously shares desks, and is around many kids. I have an appointment with our new allergist this Thursday, hopefully I can get some answers! It's mind boggling!

Sorry this is kinda long but I wanted to give all the details I could think of. Scan over it if you'd rather not read it all, thx.

Well I have these small bumps (almost look like mini mosquito bites) all over my legs, some on my stomach, back and forearms; but mainly on my legs. I am not sure what caused it since almost every explanation fits right now...I have been under tons of stress (I have a 12 week early preemie in the NICU in the next town), it is winter (winter rash), I have been eating tons of dairy (used to be allergic to milk), and have been roasting under our heavy comforter every night (heat rash)...so I am really confused. To top it off I had the same symptoms before when I was living with a current b/f who things werent going well with, also in the winter, and that time I had attributed the problem to the laundry detergent his mom was using because I always got itchy from the bed sheets. I did see a dermatoligist the first time but the perscription really didnt help.
and I wound up just kind of having to wait it out. I am probably going to go see a derm. again but I was hoping to get some idea of what might be the root of the problem. The rash seems to me like hives in that I will get itchy in an area and there arent any bumps there until I start scratching it and then these little white bumps will appear. If there are lots of them in an area and I keep scratching at it then it becomes like a oblong elevated white area. I have never gotten hives on my legs before from drinking milk, that I know of that is...the first time I had this I guess milk could have caused it but I dont think I was drinking it then. Considering it was winter the first time and it is winter this time I am wondering about winter rash but last winter I didnt get it and I dont know wether winter rash affects sufferers every year or only sometimes. Oh also when I shower it makes it wayyyy worse, cold water doesnt seem to be that bad but the hot water hitting it is awful.
I dont feel like my skin is overly dry either, but I have woken up sweating at night and for a while I was wearing some micro-fleece pj's that were making it even hotter at night...right around the time I started wearing them I started feeling itchy on my legs but not this bad. The pants were polyester so I dont think I am allergic to them, but they do tend to soak up laundry detergent, so I am thinking maybe a detergent allergy. I have the rash in areas that stay warm like the insides of my legs, but also on areas that are never covered like the top of my hands. Can hives spread to areas that were never originally in contact with the allergen??

Anyway I was just hoping that someone out there may have some idea of what it is based on symptoms...is there anything I can rule out? Also I havent had any reaction to milk or other dairy in a really long time but I have been consuming way more. I dont know if quantity can make a difference.
And any tips for stopping it from itching would be great, the first time I had it I scratched like hell and just didnt care and wound up with scabs all over my legs...really would like to try to avoid that this time, but its really itchy. =S (btw, it doesnt itch as bad until I scratch at it and then it gets alot worse, nearly unbearable.) Thanks so much to any of you who actually read through that and can lend any opinions or advice.
I thought about trying lotion but was worried that if it is sensitive skin the lotion may aggrivate the problem.

Okay, obviously I CAN wash it I'm just wondering what the odds are that it will ruin the blanket. I've had it for a while and it belonged to someone else before me, so the tag was long gone before I got it, and over the couple of years I've had it I've just used at home dry cleaning products on it. But this time of year my allergies go insane and since my cat sleeps with me I think it would be a good idea to wash it. Has anyone ever ruined a down comforter by machine washing it?

I found this at walmart, and i wanted to know if you think they look good together (keep in mind that if youre not a teenage girl, you might not like the zebra sheets haha)

First, I noticed her eye watering. Not both, just one. Now, today, the side of her mouth and nose is swelling. I've been wiping her eye with a warm washcloth each night and it doesn't water anymore, it just looks...painful. I'm providing photos:

http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt197/cephair/Picture1.png

http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt197/cephair/Picture2.png

http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt197/cephair/Picture3.png

http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt197/cephair/Picture4.png

I've checked her teeth, they're normal, not overgrown. I thought at first that she was having an allergic reaction to her new bedding, but I replaced that with the old one (which is hypoallergenic). I don't think she has anything stuck in her cheek pouch, because they are a little further back than where the swelling is. At the same time, I don't think it's anything really serious because she's been like this for a week and if it were bad I don't think she really would have lasted this long. She's a really nice hamster, she hasn't shown more aggression since the problem.

She is:
-clicking her teeth
-snuffling around her cage (little sneezes)
-not using her wheel anymore
-doesn't seem interested in food but isn't appearing to get skinny
-still likes to eat the apple pieces i give her
-still drinking water

Any ideas as to what might be wrong?
Thank you Alan. I have been leaving her alone for the most part. I started to wipe her eye when I thought she might be suffering from allergies, and a hamster website I read said that it would be good for the eye. I'll stop now, though.

I have a question: is it okay to place a towel over the cage? My parents crank the air conditioner all day and I'm not sure there's anywhere where she'd be safe from the draft.

Also, should I give her something extra like torn up towel bits, or is her bedding enough to keep dry and warm? It's the eco-friendly "hypoallergenic" stuff (brown and zig-zaggy).

I've asked this question before, just want more opinions/ideas and to give more details on questions.
Okay, i'm planning ahead for a summer trip i applied for which is a premed summer program, and its a little over two weeks. I'm staying in a dorm during it, and taking classes while volunteering/observing at a hospital and attending lectures. The college is in a really small town, so there's no real convenience stores close enough to buy things i forget. I have a tendency to overpack or underpack. I'm really picky about what i eat and drink because of allergies and a weak stomach. No I am not flying but luggage space is an issue because i am traveling with other people (going on the trip as well) in a small car.

So-
What are some healthy dorm snack and drink ideas that don't require heating or refrigeration?
(no soda or milk products, yes food is provided but i also want a few snacks around)
How should i pack my bedding to minimize luggage space it takes up?
(i have two pillows, a twin comforter, and a sheet set)
What items are essential for dorms?
(besides the obvious bathroom things and alarm clocks, please suggest things most people forget about.)
Any ways to prevent dresses and other clothes from being wrinkled when i pack them?
Where can i buy small things of laundry detergent and fabric softener?
(all the ones i have seen are large and bulky, i won't have to do much laundry so i need small ones)
What are some tips on college level classes?
(such as keeping up in lectures, what school supplies to bring, etc)
What long distance phone cards are cheapest for in state and out of state long distance calls?
(i'd expect to have cell phone signal there, but my uncle who goes to the town regularly[and also has the same service provider as well as a phone model that gets better signal than mine] gets no bars in the area of the college).

Thanks in advance for all the answers. [:

okay so i feel like i can't get a full breath of air. i feel a lot better if i yawn or take a large sigh. is this normal? im a healthy 13 year old girl. i USED to have asthma from birth (i think) till i was 5 or 6. it's gone now. it wasn't SUPER bad (i think). i used to breathe from my inhaler before bed and throughout the day. once, i had an asthma attack and had to be rushed to the emergency room. i think i was either 2 or 3.

also i have some allergies. im allergic to dogs but i have 2 hypoallergenic dogs and they have never bothered me except when i brush them their fur irritates my nose a little and i get a little itchy. it's nothing serious. im allergic to seafood too but there's none around me. im not allergic to any plants either.

will it go away and if it continues should i be concerned?

thanks
